Odisha FC has decided to let go of defender Gaurav Bora after he played for the club for three years, the team announced on their social media handle on Thursday. Bora made his Hero ISL debut for the Juggernaut in the 2019-20 season after he made a move from Chennai City FC.
On the other hand, Daniel Lalhlimpuia, who is also leaving the club, signed with Odisha FC back in the 2019-20 season. Daniel had earlier played with two-time champions Chennaiyin FC and then was part of 2018-19 Bengaluru FC’s winning team.
Daniel didn’t get to play a lot for Odisha FC but he scored one goal and provided three assists during his stint with the club.
“It was a really good experience for me with everyone here, it was amazing to be a part of this team, to win together and to lose together. I’ve grown a lot in these last three years and thanks to everyone who has been supporting me throughout this,” expressed Bora.
On the other hand, Gaurav Bora played 41 matches for Odisha FC during his three-year tenure with the club. The youngster made 45 clearances, 25 tackles, 16 blocks, and 12 interceptions in 13 matches of the Hero ISL 2021-22 season.
“Keep supporting the team, keep supporting me as well wherever I go, and thank you for always believing in me, thank you for always believing in the team, in our hard times as well as in our good times. Thank you for being the backbone. Hopefully, we’ll see each other again someday,” stated Bora in a special message to the fans.
“I would like to thank the management of Odisha FC, the owners, and all my teammates who have been here with me for the past three years,” he added.
On the other hand, Odisha FC finished at seventh position in Hero ISL 2021-22 standings with six wins and a total of 23 points in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they failed to qualify for the semifinal stages and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
