Jamshedpur FC’s forward Jordan Murray believes an away win in their opening match against FC Goa has given them a lot of confidence. The Australian feels a win has set the right tone for the season and they will look to keep up the good show in the upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, the Red Miners registered a come-from-behind 2-1 win against FC Goa in their opening match of the Indian Super League 2024-25 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa on Tuesday.
Albanian forward Armando Sadiko scored the opening goal for the Gaurs in the stoppage time of the first half. However, the Red Miners bounced back with Javi Siverio equalizing through a spot kick in the 74th minute. Murray then scored the winning goal in injury time to give a thrilling victory to his team.
“I think we showed fantastic resilience to get the win. Once we started to create some chances, we realized we could hurt them, and obviously, we got the penalty from Javier (Siverio), which was fantastic. He crept into the box, drew a foul, and slotted the penalty away, which gave us extra motivation. Going on to win the game just set the tone. For me, it was incredible team spirit, and hopefully we can take this into the next match,” said the Australian forward.
Jamshedpur FC will host the reigning champions Mumbai FC in their first Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match at JRD Sports Complex on 21st September at 5 PM.
“The match has given good confidence not only to me but to Javier Siverio as well. We now need to shift our focus to the Mumbai game and do our best, not only for myself but for my team and the fans,” he said.
The striker said it is crucial to stay on the right path after getting a crucial win in their opening match of the season.
“To get a win in the first game away against a really tough opponent is phenomenal. I think that sets us up now against the home game against Mumbai with really good confidence and motivation. So, for me, this victory is going to go a long way, but it’s done now, and we need to look forward to the Mumbai game and take it with full confidence,” he explained.
