Calicut Heroes setter Jithin N believes Prime Volleyball League will help the Indian volleyball players a lot in taking giant strides in the sport.
PVL 2022 is giving an opportunity to Indian volleyball players to rub shoulders with foreign players. Each of the seven PVL teams has two overseas players in their squad.
Thus, the Indian players can grow in confidence by learning from the overseas players, who have more experience in the game.
Jitin said, “I feel the Prime Volleyball League will help the Indian volleyball players a lot. The athletes have an opportunity to become better players as they can rub shoulders with foreign players. A professional league like this was needed to improve Indian volleyball.”
Meanwhile, Calicut Heroes didn’t get off to a great start in PVL as they lost their opening encounter against Kolkata Thunderbolts. Thus, they will look to come up with a better performance against Ahmedabad Defenders on Wednesday.
“The match against Kolkata Thunderbolts on Monday was just the beginning for us. We played well. Unfortunately, we lost the game. We will plan our strategies for our next match against Ahmedabad Defenders. The team is confident to take on our next opponents.”
On the other hand, Ahmedabad Defenders had got off to a winning start against Chennai Blitz as they won by 3-2 (15-13, 15-11, 11-15, 15-13, 11-15) on February 6. Defenders’ Shon T John added that everyone in the team is feeling confident.
“It was really exciting to play my first Prime Volleyball League match against Chennai Blitz on Sunday. We are receiving a lot of support from the coaches and management and we’ll look to play well in our next match as well. Everyone’s confidence in the team is high. We’ll play a good game and make our team proud.”
