The LA Lakers have got off to a good start in the ongoing NBA 2020:21 season as they have won eight out of their 11 matches. The defending champions currently occupy the numero uno position in the Western Conference standings.
In their latest match against the Houston Rockets, they defeated their opponents by 120-102, with Anthony Davis top scoring for them with 27 points.
The LA Lakers have ticked the right boxes but their talisman LeBron James is not fully satiated with the performance of his team. James, who is known for his all-round performance, stated that the aim of the team is to become the number one defense team in the league. James added that the whole team is putting in the hard yards during the practice sessions to achieve their goal.
James said while talking to the press after the match, “Well, our goal is to be the number one defensive team in the league. It’s going to take all our film sessions, all our shootarounds, practices where we get the opportunity to get on the floor, and then the games to continue to work those habits.”
James himself scored 18 points, seven assists and as many rebounds in his 30 minute play against the Houston Rockets. The 36-year old added they are working with a new roster and they will need time to get used to the team structure. The team is doing a fine job and they will look to come up with a collective defensive effort.
He added, “We added five new guys to our rotation this year in Trez, Dennis The Menace, Marc, and also Talen. We’re all getting comfortable with each other, getting down to our rotation, how we want to build out, playing from the paint to the perimeter. We want to be the best defensive team in the league and tonight was a good start to that.”
Out of the 11 matches of the season for LA Lakers, LeBron James has top scored in seven matches as he has played at the top of his game. James will like to get the best out of the rest of the players and keep delivering the goods for his team.
The LA Lakers will once again face Houston Rockets on the 13th of January.
