India will lock horns against Bangladesh at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur from Friday onwards. The hosts won the opening Test by a gargantuan margin of 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. There were many positives for the home team as Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant delivered solid performances.
However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could not deliver the goods and the veteran duo will be determined to prove their mettle. The hosts got the best out of the visitors on a pace friendly pitch and it will be interesting to know the pitch conditions in Kanpur. Depending on the pitch, India will decide their playing XI and if spinners will come into action, Kuldeep Yadav might replace Akash Deep.
On the other hand, Bangladesh had India in trouble at 144-6 but they could get rid of the lower order in the first innings. Furthermore, the Tigers were skittled out for a paltry score of 149 runs and the poor batting show in the first innings led to their downfall as they conceded a huge lead of 227 runs.
Hasan Mahmud bagged a five-wicket haul in the first innings whereas Najmul Hossain Shanto returned to form as he scored a fine knock of 82 runs in the second essay. But there is no doubt that there was a day light difference between the two teams in the opening Test.
